How Kindred uses AI
Last updated September 29, 2026
Kindred introduces people by voice before they ever see each other. An AI
matchmaker named Sage helps us do that well. People are right to ask hard
questions about AI right now, so here is exactly how we use it, what we
keep, and the lines we don't cross.
Our commitments
- Honest. Sage is AI, and we always say so. She never
pretends to be a person.
- People decide. AI suggests; you choose. Saying yes to an
introduction, talking, revealing yourself and meeting in person are always
your decisions, and each one needs both people.
- Private by default. Nobody you're introduced to sees
your interview, your profile or what Sage thinks of you.
- Only where it helps you connect. No ads, no feeds, no
endless scrolling, nothing built to keep you on your phone.
- Fair. Sage never asks about, or matches on, race,
religion, income or looks.
- Never sold, never trained on. We never sell your data,
and neither we nor our AI partners train AI models on your conversations.
What AI does at Kindred
- The interview. Sage talks with you for about fifteen
minutes and writes a private profile of what matters to you: your values,
how you are in closeness, what you're hoping for.
- Introductions. Sage suggests who might fit, and gives a
second opinion on each possible pair. She can rule a pair out; she can
never make anyone say yes.
- Small notes. The short note on each introduction, an
opening question for your first call, and date ideas once you've met.
- After a date, if you want. A short conversation with
Sage about how it went, so the next introduction is better.
What we keep, and for how long
- Your Sage profile and notes: while your account exists.
You can read how Sage sees you in the app, and correct her.
- Your interview audio and transcript: held by our voice
partner, ElevenLabs, until you delete your account.
- Your calls with other members: not recorded today. If
that ever changes, both of you will be asked first, every time; the audio
is deleted within 24 hours and only a transcript stays, so Sage can keep
learning.
- Messages between you and a Connection: Messages you
send a Connection stay inside Kindred. Sage never reads them and matching
never uses them. A person reads them only if one of you reports the
other.
- When you delete your account: we erase your profile,
interviews and history, and ask our partners to erase theirs. If there is
an open safety report, we keep only what's needed to keep people safe, for
a limited time.
Who helps
- ElevenLabs gives Sage her voice and hears the interview.
- Anthropic (Claude) reads the transcript to build your
profile, and writes Sage's notes.
Each works only on our behalf, under terms that don't allow training on
what we send. The full list of service providers is in our
Privacy Policy.
You're in control
- Before your first interview, we ask your permission to share it with our
AI partners. You can say no; the interview is how Sage gets to know you,
so without it we can't make introductions.
- Read and correct how Sage sees you: Profile, How Sage sees you.
- Download everything we hold about you: Settings, Download my data.
- Delete your account at any time: Settings, Delete account.
